Straight answers about pay, scheduling, credentialing, caseload, and what working with Coral Care really looks like.
Pay & Earnings
How the money works
How much does Coral Care pay per session?
Session rates typically range from $65 to $130 per session, depending on your discipline, experience, and the specific services you're providing. We're transparent about rates before you ever see your first patient — no surprises after you're credentialed.
When do I get paid?
Every two weeks via Coral Pay, our direct deposit system. You don't wait for insurance to settle — Coral Care handles collections on the back end and pays you on a predictable biweekly cycle regardless of when reimbursement comes in. Most therapists tell us this is one of the biggest differences from private practice.
Are there any fees or deductions from my pay?
No platform fees, no software subscriptions, no credentialing costs. What you earn is what you receive. Coral Care is compensated through our billing infrastructure — we take a percentage of what insurance reimburses, not from your session rate. You always know exactly what a session pays before you accept it.
What if a family cancels or doesn't show up?
We have a no-show protection policy. If a family cancels with insufficient notice, you're still compensated for that time. The specifics are outlined during onboarding, but the short version is: your time has value and we protect it.
Can I realistically earn $100,000+ per year with Coral Care?
Yes — providers with a full caseload regularly reach $100,000+ per year. Use our Practice Builder to see a personalized estimate based on your zip code, discipline, and how many hours you want to work. It takes about two minutes.
Caseload
Your patients, your territory
How quickly will I get patients?
Most providers receive their first patient match within about two weeks of completing credentialing. How fast your caseload fills depends on your availability, zip codes, and how much demand there is in your area. Our matching team works actively to fill your schedule — it's not a passive system.
How many patients can I have at once?
That's up to you. You set the number of patients you want based on how many hours you want to work. Some providers carry 8 patients, some carry 30. There's no minimum requirement and no cap — your caseload is yours to define.
Can I choose which families I work with?
Yes. When a family match comes in, you receive their information and can accept or decline. You're never placed with a family without your agreement. Most providers find that our matching is accurate because we're thoughtful about pairing specialties and needs — but the decision is always yours.
What are the families like?
Coral Care families actively sought out in-home therapy — they weren't referred here as a last resort. These are motivated parents who made a deliberate choice to get their child support in the environment where they actually live and play. Engagement and follow-through tend to be high. Learn more on our Families We Serve page.
What happens if a patient relationship isn't a good fit?
You can end a patient relationship at any time with appropriate clinical notice. Our support team handles the transition — notifying the family, coordinating continuity of care, and finding a replacement match if needed. You don't have to manage the awkward conversation alone.
Scheduling
Your schedule, your rules
Do I set my own hours?
Yes, completely. You set your availability in CoralPro — which days, which hours, how many sessions per day. You can update this at any time. Nobody assigns you a shift. Your schedule is yours.
Is there a minimum number of hours I have to work?
No minimums. You can work as few or as many hours as you want. That said, if you want consistent patient flow and a full caseload, more availability helps — especially for providers in our Catalyst program. But there's no penalty for working part-time.
Can I take time off whenever I need to?
Yes. Update your availability in CoralPro and your schedule adjusts. We ask that you give families reasonable advance notice for planned absences — same as you'd expect from a good working relationship. For medical or emergency situations, our support team helps manage patient communication. No HR approval required.
How far do I have to travel between sessions?
You set your own geographic territory — the zip codes and radius you're willing to cover. Our matching system only sends you patients within that area. Most providers build a caseload in a tight geographic cluster to minimize drive time. You can see a sample week with drive times on our Your Week page.
Credentialing & Insurance
We handle the paperwork
Do I need to be credentialed before I can start seeing patients?
Yes — you need to be credentialed with the insurances Coral Care accepts in your state. The good news: we manage the entire credentialing process for you. You submit your documents once, and our credentialing team handles applications, follow-up, and tracking. Most providers are credentialed within 60-90 days.
What insurances does Coral Care accept?
We accept most major commercial insurance plans across our eight states, with a focus on plans that have strong in-network reimbursement rates for pediatric therapy. The specific panels vary by state. Your credentialing coordinator will walk you through exactly which plans you'll be enrolled in when you join.
I'm already credentialed privately. Do I have to redo everything?
Not entirely. We leverage your existing credentialing documentation where we can. Depending on your current panel memberships and state, some re-enrollment may be necessary to bill under Coral Care's Tax ID — but our team handles the process and will tell you exactly what's needed upfront. It's typically much simpler than starting from scratch.
Who handles billing?
Coral Care handles all billing, including claims submission, denial management, and appeals. You never touch a CMS-1500 form. After each session, you complete your documentation in CoralPro and we take it from there. This alone saves most therapists 3-5 hours per week.
Am I an employee or an independent contractor?
Coral Care operates under a PC-MSO model, which means you're affiliated with a provider-owned professional corporation. This structure gives you the autonomy of independent practice with the infrastructure and compliance support of a larger organization. Your onboarding coordinator will walk you through the specifics for your state.
Platform & Support
CoralPro and what's behind it
What is CoralPro?
CoralPro is our purpose-built mobile app for pediatric therapists. It handles session scheduling, SOAP note documentation, goal tracking, caseload management, and pay visibility — all in one place. It was built specifically for in-home pediatric therapy, not retrofitted from a generic EMR. Most providers complete session notes in under 10 minutes.
Is there a cost to use CoralPro?
No. CoralPro is completely free for Coral Care providers. No monthly subscription, no per-use fee. It's part of the platform.
What kind of support is available if I have a problem?
Provider support is available 7 days a week via phone, text, and in-app messaging. You also have a dedicated provider success contact during onboarding. Most issues get resolved the same day. If you're in the Catalyst program, you have a named practice consultant on top of general support.
What happens if there's a clinical question or safety concern with a patient?
You are the licensed clinician and the clinical decision-maker for your patients. Coral Care has clinical support available for consultation, but we're never in the exam room second-guessing your judgment. For safety concerns, our team is reachable immediately. You're not on your own.
Clinical & Families
The work itself
What age groups does Coral Care serve?
Coral Care focuses on pediatric patients from birth through adolescence. The majority of patients are between ages 1 and 12, with a significant early intervention and preschool population. The exact age mix varies by your specialty and market.
Do I design the treatment plan myself?
Yes. You are the treating clinician. You conduct the evaluation, establish goals, design the treatment plan, and make all clinical decisions. Coral Care provides documentation tools, goal banks in CoralPro, and clinical support — but the practice of therapy is entirely yours.
What happens if a family's insurance changes mid-treatment?
Our billing team handles this. They'll verify the new coverage, check in-network status, and let you know if there's any gap in coverage that would affect sessions. You don't have to track this yourself — it comes to you as a heads-up, not a task.
Are there any states Coral Care currently operates in?
Yes — Coral Care is currently active in Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Texas, and Illinois. We're growing. If you're in a state we're not yet in, apply anyway and we'll reach out when we launch there.
I'm leaving Early Intervention. Is this a good fit?
It's one of the most common paths into Coral Care. EI providers have strong evaluation skills, family-centered practice experience, and comfort with the home setting — all of which translate directly. The biggest difference is that you're seeing older kids too, and you're earning significantly more. Many of our providers came from EI.
Still have questions? Just ask.
Our provider team is available 7 days a week. Or if you're ready, applying takes about 5 minutes.
