FAQs

How do I apply?

Apply at growwithcoral.com/become-provider. The application takes about 2 minutes. Our team reviews applications and follows up within one business day to walk you through next steps including credentialing and onboarding.

What if I already have my own patients?

That's completely fine. Coral Care complements your existing practice — we bring additional patients to fill your remaining availability. You are not required to transfer existing patients to Coral Care.

Do I need my own malpractice insurance?

Yes. As an independent contractor, you are responsible for maintaining your own professional liability (malpractice) insurance. Most providers carry $1M/$3M coverage. This is a requirement to join and practice with Coral Care.

Am I an employee or independent contractor?

You are an independent contractor. You own your schedule, your patient relationships, and your practice. Coral Care provides the infrastructure — credentialing, billing, referrals, documentation tools — but you run your own business.

What states do you operate in?

Coral Care currently operates in Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Texas, and Illinois. We are expanding to new states on a rolling basis. If your state isn't listed, you can still apply and we will notify you when we launch in your area.

Can I work part-time?

Yes. There is no minimum caseload requirement. Some providers see 5 patients a week alongside a full-time job. Others build a full-time private practice. Coral Build lets you configure exactly the schedule you want and adjust it at any time.

How quickly will I get patients?

Most providers receive their first patient referral within 1–2 weeks of completing credentialing. Your caseload ramp depends on your market and availability. The Practice Builder tool at growwithcoral.com/quiz/practice-builder can give you a realistic estimate for your zip code.

Can I set a specialty caseload?

Yes. Coral Build lets you specify your specialties — sensory processing, feeding, AAC, fluency, gait training, or any other area — and Coral Flow matches you with families whose children have those specific needs. You will not be matched with patients outside your configured specialties.

What is CoralPro?

CoralPro is our documentation platform built specifically for pediatric therapists. It includes SOAP note templates for OT, SLP, and PT, pediatric goal banks, evaluation tools, and a mobile app so you can complete notes in the car between sessions. Most providers complete notes in under 10 minutes.

What happens if a claim is denied?

Coral Cover handles it. Our billing team appeals every denial. You are not involved in the process and you are not affected by the outcome on your payment timeline — Coral Pay ensures you get paid biweekly regardless.

Which insurance plans do you accept?

We are in-network with most major commercial payers including BlueCross BlueShield, Cigna, Aetna, Elevance (Anthem), and others. Exact payer participation varies by state. You'll be credentialed with the plans active in your market.

How does credentialing work?

Coral Cred manages your entire credentialing process — CAQH setup and attestation, insurance enrollment, payer applications, and follow-up. You never fill out a form. Credentialing happens in two phases. Fast-track payers credential within about two weeks, which is enough to start seeing your first patients. Full panel enrollment across all payers in your state typically takes 60–90 days. Your caseload builds throughout that window — you're not waiting idle. If you're already credentialed independently, we leverage your existing documentation where possible. The specifics depend on your state and current panel memberships, but our credentialing team will tell you exactly what's needed upfront.

What does Coral Care handle vs. what do I handle?

Coral Care handles credentialing (Coral Cred), patient referrals and matching (Coral Flow), billing and claims (Coral Cover), payment (Coral Pay), and documentation tools (CoralPro). You handle the clinical work — assessments, sessions, and family relationships.

Do I control my own schedule?

Yes, completely. You set your availability in Coral Build — which days, which hours, how many patients per week. You can update it anytime. We match families to your schedule, not the other way around.

What are the session rates?

Sessions pay $65–85 per session and evaluations pay $100–130. Rates vary slightly by discipline and payer. Your exact rate is confirmed during onboarding based on your market and specialty.

How do I get paid?

Via Coral Pay — biweekly, directly to your bank account. Session rates are $65–85 depending on your discipline and payer mix. Evaluations pay $100–130. You get paid on schedule, not when insurance settles.

Is there a fee to join?

No. There is no fee to join Coral Care, no platform fee, and no startup cost of any kind. We earn when you earn — our revenue comes from insurance reimbursements, not from providers.

How does Coral Care work?

Coral Care connects you with pediatric families in your community who need OT, SLP, or PT. You configure your schedule, specialties, and service radius in Coral Build. Coral Flow continuously matches you with families who fit your profile. We handle credentialing, billing, documentation support, and payment — you focus on the sessions.

Who can I reach out to if I have questions during the onboarding process?

Your Provider Success Specialist is available to answer any questions and provide support throughout your onboarding. If you need additional assistance, feel free to reach out to our support team at hello@joincoralcare.com.

How will I be matched with clients?

Coral Care handles the marketing and client outreach, so you don’t need to worry about finding patients. We match you with clients based on your preferences, availability, and expertise, ensuring the families you work with align with your skills and schedule. You’ll receive notifications of all new booking requests. You can review and accept them when they feel like the right match.

Will there be a background check?

Yes, Coral Care conducts a background check and requests professional references as part of our commitment to providing safe, high-quality care. We’ll guide you through the process to ensure it’s quick and straightforward.

What happens after the introductory call?

After our initial chat, you'll meet with the clinical team to learn more about your areas of expertise, your approach to therapy, and how we can best support you in building a caseload. This will ensure we can match you with families who would benefit most from your services.

How do I apply to join Coral Care?

Applying to Coral Care is easy! Start by filling out our online application form. Once we review your details, our team will reach out to schedule an introductory call. This conversation will help us learn more about your expertise, clinical background, and the types of clients you're interested in working with.

Will I have access to standardized assessments for evaluations?

Coral Care promotes the use of evidence based care and assessment tools; this way providers and families alike can track and celebrate the measurable progress that has been made throughout treatment. We understand that standardized assessments are incredibly expensive and are often a barrier for providers to take on private clients. This is why Coral Care invests in its providers and offers access to several standardized assessments for each discipline while providing therapists the flexibility to use their preferred standardized assessments as well. Coral Care provides the manuals and scoring sheets for each assessment in our library; however, therapists are responsible for having any manipulatives needed to render the assessment.

What are the expectations around documentation ?

You will have access to our simple to use HIPAA compliant documentation system for evaluation reports and ongoing session notes. You will have access to our goal bank with over 200 SMART goals for each discipline that has been devised by licensed OTs, PTs, and SLPs with 10+ years of experience. To ensure the accuracy of the notes and compliance to local, state, and federal regulations evaluation and session notes are to be completed within 48 hours of the scheduled session.

What kind of training and ongoing support does Coral Care offer?

We take pride in our growing network of independently licensed providers, we rely on their expertise, their ongoing pursuit for continuing education, and their commitment to providing evidence based care. We want to ensure that we provide the necessary support to set up our providers for success and have created systems to allow for professional growth and development. Coral Care offers its providers consultation sessions with its Clinical Quality Committee team members and hosts quarterly webinars covering a wide range of clinical topics focused on pediatric care.

How is my schedule managed?

You will add your times of availability within your Coral Care profile and each week ensure that the times listed continue to be accurate. Families will be able to see your availability and request an appointment within the platform. You will have the opportunity to accept or decline the appointment request. For ongoing sessions you will be able to directly schedule the appointments within your calendar.

What do in-home visits look like?

You will arrive for the scheduled session to the client’s home. You will be expected to bring any necessary materials you need to engage with the child for an evaluation or treatment. You may use the client’s toys, furniture, or items in the home and incorporate them into your session. You will be responsible for communicating treatment length and frequency, developing goals, tracking progress, and scheduling ongoing appointments with the family.

What expectations should I have with regard to the amount of clients I get?

The amount of clients on your caseload and the speed at which you build up your caseload to your ideal working hours is dependent on your willingness to accept clients, the mileage radius you set, your credentialing status with payers, and whether your particular clinical specialties are in line with the needs of your service area. New providers will experience a trickle of clients as not all families can afford to be self-pay; you will see an increase in opportunities once you are credentialed with insurance companies. You have the ability to set your distance limit to 5 miles and you will be greatly decreasing the amount of clients you can service and your earning potential. Whereas if you extend your coverage area to 25 miles, you will be able to build up your caseload quickly and start earning a substantial monthly supplemental income.

Will I be able to see clients through insurance instantly?

No, newly onboarded providers can only provide services to self-pay families only. Assuming all the necessary paperwork has been submitted to our credentialing team in a timely fashion, credentialing with payers is a 3 month minimum process.

What can I do to get the most of the marketplace and maximize my earnings?
  • Set your mileage radius up to 30 miles from your base location
  • As you develop your caseload, stack your appointments for locations that are further away
  • Accept job opportunities if they fall within your radius and your clinical expertise
  • Complete credentialing tasks promptly, the faster you tend to them the quicker you will be in-network and have access to more clients.
  • Keep your calendar with availabilities up to date
  • Continue to hone your clinical skills and specialities and update your bio
  • Stay curious and flexible about opportunities presented to you
  • Collaborate with other Coral Care providers on your client's care team
